Disney's Animal Kingdom Orlando USA welcomes the eighth White Rhino.
Born January 17, 2010 Disney's Animal Kingdom welcomed a healthy white rhino to start the new year off right. With a gestation time period of only 16 months this birth was touch and go.
The mother named Kendi was the first white rhino born in Animal Kingdom Disney proper.
No name has been given to the baby calf white rhino yet.
Indonesia plans for captive breeding of Sumatran Rhinos
With successful breeding of Sumatran rhinos in captivity, Indonesia plans to produce 7 offspring over the next decade. If the rhinos remain in good healthy condition there is no reason why we can't progress forward using the 17 females currently in captivity, said Dr Susie Ellis, executive director of the International Rhino Foundation.

After years of letting these poachers walk free, this case finally will be the turning point with the war against rhino poaching in Zimbabwe.
Sumatran Rare Rhino Pregnancy
The pregnancy of the first female is giving hope to the international rhino biologists working on the breeding project. This being the first successful pregnancy in captivity for the Sumatran Rhino Sanctuary.
The female Ratu was born in Indonesia. The male Andalas is one of only three born in captivity in 112 years. He was born at the Cincinnati Zoo in 2001, grew up at the LA Zoo and transferred back to the Rhino Sanctuary in 2007. There have been several organizations involved with this project.
